FAQ's

CAN WE MIX LEONARDO PAINT WITH WATER?
The paint LEONARDO PAINT on sale in our shops is ready to use. Water may be added to certain products at low percentages for paint dilution (see instructions for each type of decorative paint). The addition of water increases the yield of the product during its application and the result in terms of opacity will be more or less lower than the use of the product as presented.
CAN WE USE THE PAINTS EXPOSED TO GEL?
Water based paints (waterborne) are very sensitive. They must be stored away from frost. In case of accidental short-term exposure, it should be ensured that there is no odor, lumps, changes in viscosity, sedimentation before using the paint. In the absence of these alert elements, it will be necessary to test the paints (drying, adhesion, appearance, applicability) before carrying out major works and painting important surfaces.
COATING IS VISIBLE THROUGH PAINTING, WHAT TO DO?
Be sure to smooth all coated surfaces. A primer must be applied to the plaster before painting, so that paint is not absorbed faster in these areas than in others. Use a Primer Wall & Ceiling. As soon as the drying period has passed, you can apply the undiluted wall paint.
HOW CAN I SEE A DEMONSTRATION OF THE APPLICATION OF THE PRODUCT?
Demonstration videos of LEONARDO PAINT products are available on YOUTUBE. You will also find tips and tricks to prepare your walls well and succeed in your decoration.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE THE FONDO AND / OR THE PRIMER OF LEONARDOPAINT BY ANOTHER TYPE OF PAINT ?
To achieve a long lasting result, it is strongly recommended to use LEONARDO PAINT base paints which are: Fondo (all references) and Primer (all references). These base paints from the LEONARDO PAINT range are made from quartz particles that are carefully dosed unlike other water-based paints. The use of this specific base allows the proper bonding of the decorative paint to the painted surface.
IS IT REQUIRED TO APPLY A PRIMARY ON A NEW or a NON-TREATED SUPPORT?
A base layer (primary) performs several functions that a top coat cannot provide. It ensures good adhesion, attenuates differences in absorption and isolates any stains, allowing the topcoat to produce its decorative effect.
WHAT ARE THE MOST RESISTANT PAINTS TO MOISTURE?
LEONARDO PAINT has chosen a range of natural lime paints ideal for spaces that are frequently exposed to moisture. The composition of these paints allows them a perfect resistance to this type of aggressions and a longevity that can go back up to 10 years. These paintings concocted for you are the STUCCO ANTICO, the MARMORINO and the TRAVERTINO.
WHAT MATERIAL MUST BE USED TO PAINT A WALL OR CEILING?
The rollers are ideal for painting large areas, especially ceilings. They allow to paint quickly and easily. There are different types of rollers for different jobs: foam, mohair or sheepskin, short, medium or long fur/hair. The choice of the roller really depends on the type of paint used. A mohair short hair is suitable for satin wall paintings. Foam rollers are not recommended for wall paints, because their spongy texture creates air bubbles in the paint film, which, when bursting, form craters and give an orange peel effect.
